Position Description

Position Summary:
At the direction of the Warehouse and Logistics Manager, the Shipping Team Lead will provide day-to-day work guidance to the shipping team to complete tasks necessary to maximize performance in the areas of shipping, picking, warehouse, and inventory control activities while maintaining a positive work environment. Monitor team member performance and coach for improvement in the areas of quality, productivity, accuracy, and efficiency while maintaining a safe and positive work environment. Lead in the identification, documentation, analysis, and resolution of problems. Contributes to continuous improvement initiatives related to process, material flow, systems and work environment/culture. Ability to perform shipping tasks in accordance with BMT/ACIST Quality System, Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Work Instructions (WI). Adjust work assignments of team members as well as perform those job tasks.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
* Coordinate and communicate all daily work activity to team members in the Shipping, Picking and Packaging areas, as well as provide continuous feedback to team members through side-by-side coaching and on-the-job training
* Balance the material handling and distribution tasks in relation to availability of staff and demands of daily orders, inventory movements, inventory control activities, service line and shipping schedule, reassigning staff as necessary to ensure productivity standards are met
* Maintain a work pace that supports area goals and champion the area's improvement efforts
* Regularly interact cross-functionally with Customer Service, In-House & Field Service, Purchasing, Planning, Quality Inspection, and Production at all levels as required to provide accurate and timely shipping and transfer of both inventory and non-inventory materials
* Provide System Matter Expert (SME) level support for the Warehouse related to picking, Inventory Control, Shipping Operations and Relevant ERP (SAP) system transactions
* Conduct root cause analysis on all issues related to inventory and shipping. Document process and develop new standard work procedures to avoid repeat of same issues
* Perform quality checks according to standard work procedures as needed to ensure quality standards are met
* Generate Quality System Records on applicable BMT/ACIST documentation as required
* Provide Warehouse Manager with insight regarding team member performance, attendance and behavior concerns to management for appropriate evaluation and action
* Understand and comply with BMT/ACIST Quality Policy, ESD precautions, and OSHA guidelines as applicable
* Perform production warehouse specific duties including: picking, shipping, loaner, demo and inventory control
* Perform timely transactions online utilizing ERP/MRP system
* Package and Ship product to meet customer demand
* Perform all tasks in accordance with BMT/ACIST Quality System, Standard Operation Procedures (SOP's), Work Instructions (WI), Engineering Prints and Bills of Materials (BOM's)
* Participate in continuous improvement by helping develop and update process, documentation, and material handling improvements
* Provide training for functional tasks including forklift and other necessary equipment within the departmental responsibilities
* Maintain an organized work area to ensure safety and housekeeping standards are met
* Other duties or projects as assigned
Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Minimum
* High School diploma or equivalent
* 3-5 years material handling and distribution process experience including, shipping, picking, and inventory management
* 1-2 years demonstrated previous experience in a Lead role
* Experience with external small package and LTL carriers i.e. FedEx, UPS, DHL, ArcBest, etc.
* Moderate level of computer proficiency including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and ERP Systems and database systems
* Advanced mathematical, reading and communication skills
* Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMP's), ISO regulations, and Quality Systems as it pertains to shipping, inventory control and warehouse picking operations for Medical Device Manufacturers
* Demonstrated ability to follow inventory control processes including problem solving inventory variances
* The ability to maintain accurate documentation (e.g., record traceability information onto routers, and transact materials online)
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to maintaining positive interpersonal relationships and foster cooperation within and outside their home department
* The physical ability to lift and package assemblies up to 50 lbs
* Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Ability to read and interpret variety of SOPs and WIs, with minimal instructions.
Preferred:
* Associates Degree preferred
* 5 - 7 years medical device material handling and distribution experience
* Demonstrated experience utilizing hand trucks, forklifts, and other material handling equipment
* Experience with physical and cycle count programs, quality controls & inspection procedures
* Experience with SAP
