Amentum is seeking a Communication and Lab Services Engineer in Andros Island, Bahamas on the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) contract. The Communication and Lab Services Engineer is responsible for coordinating modifications and system upgrades for both hardware and software of Site Telecommunications System.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Telephone Systems (PBX) including sub-systems (Voice Mail & Call Accounting)

  • Tactical Radio Systems including Trunked LMR system (Base Stations/Repeaters)

  • Vertical & Horizontal Backbone Topologies and associated standards

  • Coordinate modifications and system upgrades for both hardware and software of Site Telecommunications System

  • Digital Intercom Systems

  • Secure Wireless Networks

  • Multiplexers (TDMA)

  • Fiber Optic and Copper Cable Plants/Infrastructure

  • CATV Systems and Distribution Networks

  • Cryptographic Systems and Handling of Classified Material

  • Vertical & Horizontal Backbone Topologies and associated standards

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Communication Engineering or 8 years of equivalent experience (Military or Commercial)

  • Ten (10) years related experience working in Communication Electronics environment

  • Understanding of computer networking and computer architecture 

  • Provide technical assistance, training and guidance to department technicians

  • Experience with RF, HF, VHF, UHF Satellite and Microwave theory

  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and test a variety of complex Communication Systems

  • Experience in the use of TDR, OTDR, Spectrum Analyzers and communication

  • Ability to perform preventive and corrective equipment maintenance

  • Perform authorized modifications, preventative maintenance, and final testing of equipment

  • Task oriented and detailed focused

  • Works well with no supervision. Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Lift/carry/push up to 45 pounds

  • Reach above the shoulders and climb using legs and arms to perform tasks on moving vessels

  • Must be able to reside in remote location with limited medical facilities

  • A valid US Passport is required

  • This position requires the individual to be eligible to obtain a US Government security clearance; US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Juniper CTP, Aviat microwave, AVAYA CM6 digital telephone switch, Clearcom Eclipse digital audio switch preferred 

  • Managing multiple ongoing projects simultaneously 

  • Security + certification preferred

  • Active Government Secret Security Clearance preferred
