Researcher 3
Panoskaltsis-Mortari Lab in collaboration with Dr. Ilitch Diaz Gutierrez

This is a mid-level position with work to be performed in Dr. Panoskaltsis-Mortari's Lab and the 3D Bioprinting Facility (Department of Pediatrics). This position will work under the direction of Dr. Ilitch Diaz Gutierrez (Department of Surgery). The purpose of the Researcher 3 position is to assist in the area of tissue engineering of the esophagus for esophageal reconstruction.
Job Duties:
Research duties 90%
Maintain and expand human cell cultures for use in 3D bioprinting experiments
3D bioprinting of esophageal constructs
preparation of hydrogels
preparation of polymer solutions for use in electrospraying
biomechanical testing of bioprinted constructs
histological and qRT-PCR analysis of bioprinted tissue
Mentor and train undergraduate students in standard operating procedures
Commits to scientific and laboratory success 10%
* Collaborate in preparing figures for publication and grant applications
* Participate in lab meetings
* Mentor and train undergraduate students in standard operating procedures
* Stay up to date on training and compliance requirements

Qualifications



All required qualifications must be included in the application materials
Required Qualifications
Bachelor in Science in Biology, Biomedical Engineering or in an equivalent field of study and at least 2 years of laboratory experience or combination of education and experience to total six years. Years of experience to include at least 2 years of laboratory experience.
Experience in 3D bioprinting
Excellent communication skills are expected.
The candidate must be able to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to organize workflows as well as ability in collecting, processing and organizing data.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in 3D bioprinting and/or electrospraying
Skills in human cell culture, handling and processing tissue samples.
Skills in biomechanical testing
Skills in preparation and use of hydrogels
