High School Diploma or equivalent.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.


Experience & Skills Required:

Knowledge of handcuffing/shackling techniques.
Familiar with court rulings relevant to handling of inmates’ rights.
Ability to deal with inmates firmly, fairly and objectively.
Ability to receive direction and supervision from supervisors.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

Job Description:
The Martin County is currently accepting applications for a Transport Officer. This position is hired on an on-call part-time basis. Shifts and hours may vary based on department needs.

Under general supervision, the Transport Officer performs all operational duties necessary for the proper care and transport of jail inmates including, but not limited to:

Transport inmates to and from the courtroom, prison, doctor’s office and other locations as required.
Complete all necessary logs, records and reports pertaining to the transporting of inmates.
Use of control weapons if necessary - Taser or OC spray (mace).
Responsible for the control and use of any weapons and security equipment while in their use.
Transport juveniles to and from the courtroom, medical facilities, and detention centers.
Transport Mentally Incapacitated inmates to and from court and treatment facilities.
Receive and log any transport related department communications.
Perform minor maintenance inspections of transport vehicles.
