40 hours per week (four 10-hour shifts)

The certified wound ostomy nurse provides nursing care, consultation and coordination of services for patients with chronic wounds, acute pressure injuries and ostomies. Fosters effective communication among health care professionals who provide nursing care to children with altered skin integrity and ostomies. Develops and implements educational programs for patients, caregivers and families, hospital staff, and community health personnel. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses. Maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.

Responsibilities




Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
Collaborates with practitioners and nurses to identify patients in need of an individualized plan to promote skin integrity or manage wounds and ostomies.
Administers treatments in a manner that improves clinical outcomes and reduces risk or cost.
Ensures delivery of preventive services, health promotion activities and other interventions that proactively address potential risks.
Aware of evidence based standards and applicable national standards.
Participates in policy and procedure development, continuing education, continuous quality improvement, product selection and testing, research and/or evidenced based practice.
Evaluates outcomes and makes recommendations for further improvements.
Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes, participating in data collection or auditing, understanding quality Improvement, and representing staff at relevant meetings and then reporting important information and updates back to staff.


Qualifications




Education Requirement:

BSN, required.

Licensure Requirement:

-Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio

-Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Certifications:

Wound Ostomy Certification within first 12 months of employment, required.

Experience:

Clinical skill and knowledge in the nursing care of children including normal growth and development and/or clinical expertise in specialized area, required.
