QUALIFICATIONS:

Maintain a good driving record before and during employment.
Provide current DOT Medical Card or pass a DOT physical examination after a contingent job offer has been made. Pass subsequent physicals at DOT-specified intervals.
Follow DARTS' Substance Abuse Policy, which includes passing a urine drug test after a contingent job offer has been made and participating in the random drug and alcohol-testing program during employment. Passing is defined as a verified, negative test result.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Have the physical strength to help passengers using mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs, scooters, walkers). Includes bending, squatting or kneeling to secure mobility devices to the floor.
Ability to push/pull 175-400 pounds up or down inclines.
Help ambulatory passengers up and down stairs.
Ability to step-up approximately 20” to enter the bus multiple times per shift.
Effectively navigate streets, roads and highways within the service area.
Work independently with limited supervision.
Provide excellent customer service and maintain client confidentiality.
Desire to assist and work with older adults.


Licenses and/or Certifications:

Class C-CDL License preferred, or DARTS can provide CDL training to obtain Class C-CDL
Maintain Special Transportation Services Certified training - initial and recurrent training provided by DARTS

Job Description:
JOB SUMMARY: The DARTS part-time (up to 20 hours per week) driving position is well suited for individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of older adults. By providing transportation to a variety of destinations, DARTS drivers help seniors remain in the home of their choosing. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills and a good driving record. The Early Learning Driver Training (ELDT) under FMCSA/DOT required training to obtain a passenger endorsement license is provided and paid for by DARTS!



HOURLY WAGE: $23.00 per hour

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Drive safely and obey all traffic laws.
Maintain communication with dispatch.
Always ensure passenger and vehicle safety.
Provide passenger assistance when needed.
Follow requirements for vehicle inspections, daily logs and accident reporting.
