Medical Technologist
Anna Jaques Hospital, a member of the Beth Israel Lahey Health group is seeking a Medical Technologist to join our team of professionals supporting outpatient, inpatient, and emergency department patients. Located in the beautiful seaside community of Newburyport, Massachusetts, Anna Jaques offers a fast paced and challenging environment in a community hospital setting.
TheMedical Technologistworks under the direction of the core lab manager and demonstrates proficiency in determining specimen requirements blood collections for all age groups, order entry, order query, specimen accessioning, and specimen distributions.
Duties
Specimen requirements include sorting all samples to allow for fast retrieval, being proficient in collecting blood successfully on difficult patients while utilizing two forms of patient identification.
Accurately performs laboratory analyses on patient specimens.
Performs quality control testing as required for each analyte that includes ensuring all results pass quality control criteria before verifying results.
Instrument Maintenance required so that analyzers will perform optimally over a longer period of time.
Recognizes STAT testing priorities and turnaround time limits defined by Laboratory STAT Testing Policy.
Reviews results for critical values, delta variances, unusual or absurd results, and result completeness prior to certification and release of information.
Maximally utilizes the features of the LIS system to enable productive and efficient use of time.
Qualifications
Completion of MT or MLT program with a Bachelor's or Associate's degree.
Required Licenses: ASCP certification or registry eligible required.
