The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Commission on Judicial Conduct investigates allegations of judicial misconduct. The primary responsibility of a judicial ethics research & report writer at the Commission is to write reports analyzing complaints of misconduct and results of investigations. This may include clarifying complaints by interviewing witnesses or examining records. No prior legal knowledge or experience is required.
Additional duties:
Reviewing and analyzing court and financial records; interviewing witnesses; conducting court observations; and assisting attorneys with trial preparation and at trial. Some travel required.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications • BA/BS from an accredited college
• Excellent writing skills (BA in English, Journalism, or related field preferred)
• Strong analytical skills
• Computer research skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Valid driver's license
• Clean criminal record
• Knowledge of NYS court system desirable
• Journalism and/or editing experience a plus
