If you are a student looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based at our Sidney, Ohio location, you will have the opportunity to work in our Product Environmental Compliance (PEC) Team. The PEC team supports business units around the globe in ensuring our products’ sustainability by verifying they comply with global products environmental laws such as EU REACH, RoHS, TSCA, Prop 65, and many others. You will have the opportunity to learn about these laws, how they impact products around the globe, and how they help ensure product sustainability. Then, you will use that knowledge to author communications to our businesses. You also will assist in developing and/or updating businesses processes to ensure compliance with the law, during which you will learn to use applications such as Microsoft Power Automate and Power Apps.

AS THE PRODUCT ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE CO-OP, YOU WILL:

  • Understand the requirements of product environmental laws relevant to Copeland’s business units

  • Monitor global legislation and identify proposed laws or changes to existing laws that are potentially relevant to Copeland

  • Author communications on relevant laws and trending topics

  • Develop and/or improve business processes related to PEC

  • Assist with writing/updating process documentation

  • Collaborate with our Manila, Philippines team on various projects

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Data Analytics, or Chemistry

  • Sophomore or higher class status

  • Ability to work 40 hours/week

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, analytical and decision-making skills, organizational skills, and PC skills including Microsoft Office

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship for this role will not be provided

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Undergraduate student currently pursuing Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, Data Analytics, or Chemistry

  • Previous Co-op or Intern Experience with Copeland or another company

  • Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher

  • Confidence in managing and building your own To-do list from project requirements

  • HHigh attention to detail

  • Working knowledge of materials and chemicals

  • Working knowledge of global product environmental laws and trending topics such as EU REACH, RoHS, TSCA, Prop 65, PFAS, Flame Retardants, etc.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Automate or Power Apps

  • Familiarity with Copeland products

About our Location

The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions.
