Job Description

The Clinical Shift Supervisor assumes the responsibility for ensuring excellent patient care is being delivered, maintaining expeditious patient flow with a focus on customer service, and supervision of nursing staff. The Clinical Shift Supervisor will provide input on staff evaluations and complete evaluations for their regular staff cohort. The Clinical Shift Supervisor will also assist with cost containment, and manage all employees to do the same. The position requires knowledge of leadership and effective interpersonal communication skills.

The Infusion nurse supervisor will support the Cincinnati regions' only adult FACT-accredited academic blood and marrow transplant program, delivering high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care and according to policy and procedures.

The Blood Cancer Healing Center is designed to be an unparalleled hub of expertise and support that will redefine care for blood cancer patients and their families. The center includes dedicated spaces for whole-person patient care, novel treatments, and basic/translational research-all in one building, all dedicated to the future of cancer care.

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required
  • Minimum of two to four years of clinical nursing experience in the area of clinical specialty
  • Licensed to practice in the State of Ohio
  • ONS/ONCC Chemo Biotherapy Certification required within 6 months of date of hire

The Clinical Registered Nurse (RN) Supervisor requires knowledge regarding operational leadership of shift including patient flow and assignment/adjustment of resources to meet dynamic changing needs throughout the shift. The Clinical RN Supervisor will actively identify opportunities for improvement in patient satisfaction, perform trials, and report back to leadership on results.
  • Supervises staff assigned to their unit or center of excellence and demonstrates the ability to coach and mentor staff.
  • Lead and implement operational improvement initiatives and ensure compliance via staff coaching and mentoring.
  • Identifies needs for specific equipment and ensures adequate and properly functioning equipment and supplies are available for patient care.
  • Ensure shift practice complies with state and federal medical laws (EMTALA, HIPAA, and House Bill 316).
  • Maintain hospital-wide and department-specific nursing competencies and complete annual competencies in the required time frame.
  • Collaborate with the Department Educator and/or provide for orientation and educational needs identified in the department.
  • Actively involved and engaged staff in departmental performance improvement (PI) activities according to the department PI plan.
  • Provides immediate counseling for staff when specific behaviors or incidents negatively affect patient care or the general work environment. Write up incidents.
