Job Description

IT project manager to lead, oversee and coordinate the activities essential for the successful completion of data center migration project. They may also work with other project managers of sub projects to coordinate the overall program of migration projects.

DataCenter Migration Project/Program manager Desired Skills:
• Five (5) years’ experience performing IT Project Management functions.
• Two (2) years’ experience performing IT Program Management functions.
• Two (2) engagements lasting more than six (6) months successfully managing a project involving the migration of large data centers to the cloud, to another data center or a combination.
• Ability to manage and mediate stakeholder requirements and input as they relate to a project scope and objectives.
• Critical thinking skills to analyze project requirements and inputs and make decisions that result in high quality project outputs.
• Hands on experience with cloud or data center migrations.
• Ability to lead project teams using Agile and traditional project management methods.

Project/Program manager Sample Tasks:
• Define the project scope, objectives, and success criteria.
• Identify key stakeholders, including IT and agency representatives.
• Develop a project charter that outlines roles and responsibilities.
• Develop a detailed migration plan, including timelines and milestones. This may include creating sub-projects in order to distribute some work to additional Project Managers.
• Working with stakeholders and architects, determine where individual applications and data will migrate to.
• Develop a plan to track subprojects related to the overall effort including overseeing subproject schedules/scopes/risks/issues and regularly coordinating with communicating with other PMs assigned to subprojects.
• Establish clear communication channels with IT and agency stakeholders.
• Hold regular meetings to update stakeholders on project progress.
• Collaborate with agency stakeholders to verify the accuracy of critical data.
• Coordinate and track the development of a comprehensive testing plan.
• Coordinate and track the thorough testing of data integrity, access controls, and functionality.
• Coordinate and track the creation of ongoing support and documentation including architectural diagrams and support documentation for both IT and business users.
• Schedule, coordinate and track the actual migration of data and applications.
• Monitor the migration process to ensure data integrity and minimal downtime.
• Evaluate the success of the migration against the defined success criteria.
• Create a final project report summarizing the entire migration process.
