POSITION SUMMARY:
The Intern, Editorial position will assist with completing projects that help to enhance the journal sites and research related to updating features in the journals, updating of assigned materials on the journal websites, and performing editorial-related tasks. The Intern, Editorial will gain skills and understanding related to the peer review process.
ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Editorial-related tasks
Learn to track peer reviews and assess completion for Editor review
Train to use iThenticate software to detect plagiarism
Assist with Resident & Fellow Section trainee mentorship program
Coordinate with staff to enter tickets and test new features within the manuscript tracking system
Customer coordinator
Learn Journal Policy and details of editorial processes to assist authors with queries
Assist reviewers in navigating the online manuscript tracking system
Train to navigate and triage various customer-related inquiries about the Journal
Handle special projects
Assist team to gather data to provide insight to editors regarding decision making, using journal-provided tools to access reports,
Coordinate with editorial and production team to assist with Letters to the Editor section
Learn to create videos and materials for Editor and staff training and annual meeting demos

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required
Must be enrolled as a student working towards a degree in biological science, English, Journalism, Communications, or related field is required
Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Competence in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Web searching, social media is required
ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION:

Location: Minneapolis, MN and is identified as primarily remote (ability to work remotely, but required to work in the office as needed or requested)
