Responsibilities



The primary function of the Master Scheduler (MS) is to create and manage the Master Schedule required to meet customer orders for Bruker's Hysitron product line of systems and products. The MS will analyze material and manufacturing conditions, along with sales forecasts and usage history, to create, organize, adjust, and control the ERP/MRP master schedule and daily/monthly operations plans. The MS identifies, leads, and executes materials organization, scheduling, and manufacturing activities needed to ship Hysitron products on time and per customer orders. The MS is an important channel of communication between the Hysitron Management team, Sales, Service, Global Supply Management (GSM), and must work effectively with them to establish clear communication and decision-making procedures to ensure the integrity of the master schedule.
Development and implementation of the Master Schedule (40%)
Create product line-specific build schedules over the near-term horizon (i.e., 0-13 weeks) and long-term horizons (i.e., beyond the current quarter) based on input from Manufacturing Management, PLM, and GSM
Support Manufacturing Managers in maintaining an achievable quarterly build plan, with a focus on minimizing costs and internal lead-time
Provide input to Manufacturing Managers on setting system Customer Commit Dates based on material and capacity constraints
Build the production plan and run the analysis to identify the most effective solution for the plant (i.e., optimize batch sizes) given the issue (such as): urgent sales change requests (demand re-balancing, delivery schedule changes), production (equipment breakdown), or supply chain (material shortage) issue as required to maintain the production schedule, open production orders in SAP
Work with Manufacturing Management, Product Line Management, and Global Supply Management to continuously improve forecasting and Master Schedule accuracy
Align with production planning to understand supply constraints (i.e., capacity/mix limitations, logistics issues) and, similarly, incorporate these into SAP, and work on appropriate mitigation plans and resulting adjustments to Master Schedule
Develop and improve processes, as required, to support creation of an accurate Master Schedule, including capacity and build plans
Support Specials, New Product Introduction, Service Sales Orders, Service Depot Replenishment, Repair Center, and other projects (30%)
Review the lead time, planning parameters, routing, and BOMs for Specials
Support on time delivery of demo systems & other internal equipment requirements as appropriate
Coordinate the introduction of new products or variants into the production system and support New Product Introduction (NPI) teams by providing input on material availability and Manufacturing capacity as relevant to the project timeline, gate exits, and market launch
Review and provide input to Engineering Change Orders. Where applicable, develop an implementation plan that considers Operations issues such as impact on WIP and current inventory.
Perform other duties as assigned
Ensure the Accuracy and integrity of Operations data in SAP (20%)
Maintain Planning-related master data attributes and elements with a high level of accuracy
Establish and maintain Re-Order Point parameters as required
Reconcile work order variances and implement appropriate corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence, and, where applicable document and report root cause(s) to Finance
Track demand trends and make appropriate proposals to management to avoid stock-out situations of Options and Accessories
Notify Manufacturing Management and Manufacturing Engineering of routing/BOM discrepancies
Leadership, management, prioritization, communication, and direction for scheduling and planning activity in the Operations group (10%)
Take direct responsibility and hands-on involvement in the execution of responsibilities and duties
Execute duties with a cooperative team approach with all Company personnel
Interface as required with internal customers and internal suppliers to resolve issues and ensure Company goals are met
Other Duties:
Establish Customer Commit Dates for assigned part, upgrade, and Service orders based on material and capacity constraints
Evaluate consumption of Options and Accessories to create and update rolling 18-month forecast
Review Service updates to the World-Wide Service depot footprint, provide input to Service on depot ROP parameters to help optimize depot replenishment and meet established Service order hit rate metrics
Support Repair Center inventory locations as assigned
Follow up on the repair order progress and arrange shipment after repair completed.
Represent manufacturing managers in the regional planning meetings.






Qualifications



Bachelor's degree, preferably in a Business or Operations Management discipline
Minimum of 5 years of Planning/Scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment with SAP is required. Additional experience in a purchasing environment is a plus.
An understanding of supply chain planning processes and associated key performance metrics
Working understanding of Engineering Change Orders, BOM's, and work order management
Supply planning or supply chain certifications (CPIM, APICS, etc.) strongly preferred
Strong written and oral communication, organization, detail-oriented, analytical, critical thinking, and customer focus skills
Ability to work independent with minimal supervision
Ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize and plan effectively to complete assigned tasks
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with management and staff in other functional areas
Ability to effectively and professionally work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment with frequent changes in deadlines and priorities
Familiarity with DMAIC methodology preferred
