The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Position Information:
Do you have equipment operation experience? The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking several State Fair Workers to perform maintenance activities and operate various equipment as part of their Events Staff at the Great New York State Fair! These Event Staff positions are part of a 24/7 operation, ensuring the maintenance of event facilities on the New York State Fairgrounds. These positions set up and transport furniture and equipment, such as tables, chairs, picnic benches, and barricades in preparation for special events and meetings. They maintain the outdoors by shoveling snow, spreading ice-melt on walkways, using leaf blowers, and clearing barn stalls post-events. Acting as a direct point of contact for event promoters, the Event Staff will cater to various event-related needs as they arise. They will also operate equipment including:
• Skid Steers
• Front End Loaders
• Tractors with multiple drag attachments
• Street sweepers
• Tele-handlers
• Various sized Ariel Lifts
• Scissors Lift
• Ride on Floor Scrubber
• Walk-behind Scrubber
• Rollers
These are labor-class, CSEA-represented positions conveniently located at the New York State Fairgrounds at 581 State Fair Boulevard, Syracuse, New York. We offer a professional and comfortable working environment with ample free parking.
These are full-time, temporary opportunities with multiple shifts available:
Shifts may include weekends.
1st shift: 7:00 am-3:30 pm
2nd shift: 3:30 pm-12:00 am
3rd shift: 10:00 pm-6:30 am
Reserve Bench: We are seeking an individual who is available as needed to help prepare for large-scale events or when there are staff shortages. Shifts and hours available may be sporadic.

Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience in the operation of one or more of the pieces of equipment noted above in duties description. Candidates must have the physical ability to perform work consisting of light or medium to heavy physical labor. When required to operate motor vehicles, candidates must possess a valid New York State driver's license appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated.
