JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction and guidance of the Operations Manager – Innovation Center, the Pilot Plant Technician is responsible for Pilot Plant runs which includes equipment setup, maintenance, operation, and housekeeping duties. This position requires attention to detail, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. In addition, the position requires conducting routine preventive maintenance and emergency maintenance of Pilot Plant equipment.

 The hours are as follows:

  • 3rd shift = 8pm - 6:30am (Mon-Thurs) [$3/hr shift differential]

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct Pilot Plant runs which includes equipment setup, maintenance, operation, and housekeeping duties.
  • Run the plant using a PLC and radio communication.
  • Maintain high level of housekeeping in the facility.
  • Assemble small equipment for external customers or use in the Innovation Center.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of Pilot Plant equipment.
  • Maintain a Special Engineer Boiler License.
  • Assist with technical, field assistance, and/or training for customers in maintenance, installation, operation, and startup of all Crown Iron Works processes; assist with preparation of customer reports after each run.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures of Company and OSHA.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS

  • Preferred (but not required) - Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
  • Shift work (afternoons or nights) and flexible hours.
  • Plant environment – exposure to chemicals, hazardous materials, and noise.
  • Required to work at heights, confined spaces, and in inclement weather conditions.
  • Required to “troubleshoot” mechanical and chemical processes.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers, and vendors.
  • Respond to requests from internal and external customers.
  • Understand and follow oral, written and technical instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Special Engineer Boiler License a plus.
  • Forklift Certification a plus.
  • Self manages; takes initiative and able to collaborated.
  • Welding and/or machinery operation background. (Preferred)
  • Strong computer and Microsoft office skills. (Preferred)
