Job Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
-Education Required: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program that is accredited.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS
-Required: Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must obtain ARDMS (RVT) registration within 12 months of hire date.
-Preferred: RVT
LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION
-Required: Basic Life Support
JOB FUNCTIONS
• Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience.
• Communicates effectively with the healthcare team utilizing established handoff procedures.
• Gives and accepts respectful feedback to enhance teamwork.
• Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography arterial and venus examinations.
• Uses sonographic skills to identify, record and modify procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
• Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
• Analyses sonograms, incorporates sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician coverage.
• Assists with the daily operation of the sonographic lab.
• Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area and maintains adequate supplies. Responds to equipment issues timely to ensure optimum operations and equipment quality and long-term equipment maintenance and life.
• Participates in the maintenance of vascular laboratory accreditation.
• Minimizes preventable harm events and consistently executes the infection control protocols. Incorporates the Culture of Safety tools in daily practice, adhering to quality and safety guidelines and communicating near-miss or potential risks.
• Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience.
