Starting Pay Range:   Based upon experience.
General Summary: Electrical Mechanics report to a Supervisor or person designated by the Supervisor to perform assigned functions in accordance with Watson Electricals’ policies and procedures and assist in achieving their division’s aims, goals and objectives. Work will consist of installation, alterations, additions and/or repairs of electrical systems, equipment and associated materials within the electrical construction industry.
Preferred Job Skills:  Basic math skills, dependable transportation and willingness to commute daily to job sites within a 50-mile radius. Must possess effective communication skills.  Commercial electrical construction experience including EMT & GRC conduit installation and MC cable experience.  Ability to install switch gear, panel and terminate.
Mandatory Hiring Requirements: Resume, References, Background Check, Drug Screen Testing, Valid NC Driver’s License, Journeyman License preferred but not required 
Responsibilities: Must be able to work within precise limits and standards of accuracy and perform a variety of duties that often change. Must utilize reason and logic to perform mathematical operations rapidly and accurately and possess a complete understanding of construction drawings and details.  Recognize slight differences in planes, shapes or shading to envision 2-dimensional pictures and diagrams as 3- dimensional objects.

1. Direct and work with an Electrician Helper as directed by Supervisor or designated person.
2. Accurately install conduit, wire, pre-fab assemblies, panel boards, light fixtures, devices, and other equipment per layout by the Supervisor or designated person.
3. Minimize waste of materials, assure quality of the installation (no re-dos), and be consistent with Supervisors or designated person layout of task(s).
4. Follow diagrams and blueprints to ensure that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring are installed.
5. Measure, cut, thread, ream, assemble, and install conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender(s).
6. Pulling wire; splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads with knife or other means, twisting wires together, and applying terminal connectors and or tape.
7. Connect wiring to light fixtures, power equipment, motors, devices, and other electrical apparatus, using hand tools and power tools.
8. Test continuity of circuits, circuit wiring to insure compatibility and safety of components using test instruments.
9. Observe functions of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
10. May repair faulty equipment or systems
11. Complete required paperwork.
12. Monitor safety per Watson Safety Program.
13. Demonstrate knowledge of all tools and equipment.
14. Demonstrate efficient knowledge of trade.
15. Coordinate installation with other trades.
16. Responsible for getting materials and proper tools together to complete assigned task. 
17. Assist Supervisor or designated person to trouble- shoot electrical branch circuits and feeders

Position Requirements:
 
Age:  Must be at least 21 years old.
 
License:  Must possess a current state driver's license.
 
Certifications: Applicable federal, state, and local certifications as required by job conditions or by the company.
 
Education: High School Graduate or GED.
 
Experience: Minimum of 3-years electrical experience required.
 
Working Conditions:

1. Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow.
2. Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
3. Job requires employee to have required personal tools with him at all times (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs.).
4. Work from all types of ladders and be able to transport/relocate ladders unassisted.
5. Employee’s personal weight with tools cannot exceed the rated weight capacity of ladders used.
6. Perform work at various heights, up to 90” from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks and other safe work areas.
7. Work in restricted areas (switch gear-room, manholes, utility tunnels and crawl spaces).
8. Wear personal protective equipment as required in company's Safety Handbook.
9. Able to work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required, to include night shifts and out-of-town work if required.

 
Skills:

1. Positively identify colors of wire and other items as required.
2. Comprehend reading of blueprints drawings, and schematics same.
3. Bend conduit by hand with hand benders.
4. Must have the ability to use safely the required power tools.
5. Must be able to safely operate equipment (trenchers, lift trucks, aerial lifts, etc.).
6. Capable of digging trenches, either by use of hand tools or power equipment.
7. Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook.
8. Operate two handed tools as required.
9. Operate company truck with manual and automatic transmission.
10. Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
11. Operate and work from mechanical personal lifts (electric or gas powered).
12. Assist Supervisor or designated person with energized circuits and equipment as outlined in the Company Safety Policy Manual.
13. Effectively supervise electrical helpers to complete tasks assigned by a Supervisor safely and  accurately.

 
Physical Function:

1. Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction).
2. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
3. Able to lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
4. Tolerant to prolonged standing and movement on foot.
5. Climb ladders (all types).
6. Complete overhead work for extended periods of time.
7. Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
8. Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
