Job Description
The Parking Lot Attendant position will control parking and traffic on campus. They are generally the first contact to the University that customers see. The Parking Lot Attendant will provide parking information to faculty, staff, and visitors, and will enforce traffic safety on campus.
Qualifications
  • High school degree required.
  • This position will require an average of 15-20 hours of overtime each week during the academic year.
  • Must be able to work evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Must hold a current and clear United States driver’s license.
  • Must display a customer-first, solution-oriented attitude.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Some previous parking experience desired.
  • Must be able to accurately and efficiently perform simple math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Knowledge of campus and surrounding areas.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Patience and empathy.
  • Ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to clearly communicate directions and instructions.
  • Money transactions and daily book keeping skills.
  • Must be alert and attentive to surroundings.
  • Some knowledge of computer program office uses for looking up vehicle information
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment such as ticket machines in case of malfunction.
Responsibilities
  • Greet visitors such as parents, VIP’s to the campus.
  • Control traffic flow on campus.
  • Must have knowledge of parking lots and campus buildings .
  • Assist with on site training of new employees.
  • Regulate the space availability in parking areas.
  • Enforce parking regulations in assigned lots, such as issuing tickets to non-permit holders.
  • Monitor 2- way radio and phones for emergencies or change in daily routine.
  • Coordinate with Emergency Crews to grant access to lots, so they can perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Basic up keep, both inside and outside of work areas in all types of weather conditions.
  • Understanding of mechanical equipment such as ticket machines to resolve issues in case of a malfunction.
  • Act as liaison between guests to the University and various departments.
