Freudenberg Battery Power Systems, LLC seeks Mechanical Engineer in Auburn Hills, MI:
Position Description: Responsible for engineering and new product development of Freudenberg Battery Power Systems (FBPS). Engaged from the prototype stage through production launch and understands the mechanical, electro-mechanical, electrical, and functional interfaces throughout the battery. Understand of product design that places safety and quality as main deliverables while effectively balancing other attributes such as performance, mass, and cost. Work seamlessly with the mechanical engineering and CAD teams to evolve new products efficiently, delivering best-in-class product quality, efficiency, and optimized design solutions. Responsible for the engineering and development of assigned subsystems and components. Responsibilities include developing technical work products, coordinating FEA studies, supplier capabilities, DFMEA, GD&T, Stack-up analysis, DVP&R, and DFM/DFA deliverables. Manage and release structured bill of materials including PFEP/Workbook during early stages of product development with evolution into FBPS’s production MRP system (SAP). Work closely with the program management office, supply chain, purchasing, quality, strategic suppliers, and manufacturing engineering to ensure successful high-volume production. Working from Auburn Hills office is required and some remote work is optional.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related quantitative discipline plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or three (3) years of experience in automotive engineering programs.
Special Skills: 1) DFMEA; 2) Design/Engineering Review; 3) DVP&R; 4) SolidWorks/Catia V5/UG NX; 5) FEA/CAE review (review simulation results); 6) Product development (Lithium-ion battery components); 7) tolerance stack-ups 8) GD&T. Any suitable combination of education, training and/or experience is acceptable. Working from Auburn Hills office is required and some remote work is optional.
