Senior Principal Software Engineer - SDLC Evolution
Description
Must-have Qualifications
- Extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in software development with a focus on the SDLC for large-scale code bases (1M+ LOC, 200+ concurrent developers)
- Track record of leadership roles in large tech companies with demonstrated ability to strategically plan and execute both incremental improvements and revolutionary changes.
- Strong expertise with the developer lifecycles of multiple programming languages and domains (how to develop, debug, package, test, etc.) as we have code in several languages, ranging from Go and C++ to Python and JavaScript.
- Experience with implementing software development and testing practices for extensive code bases.
- Familiarity with hybrid delivery models, delivering software to both customer managed and cloud hosted environments.
- Excellent communication skills and a history of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have Qualifications
- Experience crafting and delivering software as a service and working with cloud infrastructure services such as AWS EC2, S3, Kubernetes, etc. is desirable but not required.
- Experience working with multiple cloud providers (like AWS, GCP, and Azure).
- Experience working on decade+ legacy codebases.
- Familiarity with mono-repos is a plus.
- Ability to work across our multiple languages (polyglot).

Base Pay Range
SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area
Base Pay Range: $242,400.00 - 333,300.00 per year
California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts
Base Pay Range: $218,160.00 - 299,970.00 per year
All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.
Base Pay Range: $193,920.00 - 266,640.00 per year
Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
