Position Summary
Summary:
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Morehouse School of Medicine is seeking an Associate or Full Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics who is a Physician or Psychologist.   The successful candidate should have a track record of successful grant applications and management, research design and execution, publishing and presenting in national outlets, and effectively mentoring and sponsoring researchers in training.  They should be community-oriented, demonstrating interest in and commitment to advancing mental health equity through education and scholarship. This position includes administrative, research, and teaching experience across two clinical departments – Pediatrics and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at an HBCU medical school. It will also include capacity building in research across these departments. 
 
 
 General Responsibilities:
 The successful applicant should have experience in translational and/or clinical research. In addition, they should have evidence of extramural funding. The Vice-Chair will lead the creation of research infrastructure and advance the department’s research mission, focusing on enhancing the pipeline of researchers, developing current faculty related to scholarship, and increasing extramural funding.  The individual will report directly to the Department Chairs and serve on the Department Executive Committees. The Vice Chair of Research will be expected to oversee research, career development, and mentorship of select faculty, fellows, and promising residents committed to a research career. Department research priorities include but are not limited to social determinants of health, social justice and health, adverse childhood experiences and health and mental health outcomes, and computational psychology.    Required Qualifications: MD or PhD; Extramural Funding Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degrees in research methodology.

Immunization Requirements
It is MSM’s Immunization policy that all Prospective Employees are required to provide proof that they are vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment. If employment will commence during Flu Season, MSM requires all individuals to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless granted an exemption. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain an exemption from MSM will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
