Job DescriptionPRIMARY PURPOSE:
Substitute Paraeducator assignments vary from 4 hours to 7 hours per day, dependent on specific
position and substitute’s availability. The Substitute Paraeducator will have an opportunity to
select from positions online each day. The primary purpose of this position is to support learning
for identified students under the direction of a certificated staff member.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Depending on the position, the substitute paraeducator may:
1. Supervise and monitor student behavior during recess and in the lunch room.
2. Assist in clerical tasks as requested by the classroom teacher.
3. Assist classroom teachers as required – overload assistance.
4. Maintain library circulation during lunch hours and assist librarians as required.
5. Work one-on-one or in small group situations, with instructions from classroom teacher.
6. Assist classroom teachers with at-risk students under the direction of the self-contained
special education teacher.
