POSITION SUMMARY:
Pare Corporation has a position available for a Geotechnical Engineer (I or II) with entry level to five years of experience. This position will support geotechnical engineering for waterfront, dam, and site/civil engineering projects, including foundation systems, retaining walls, earth support, slopes, ground improvements and other geotechnical features. Task assignments will be designed to develop professional engineering work skills & abilities in order to foster a strong foundation for an engineering career at Pare Corporation.
DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform field tasks, including subsurface testing and investigation of soil and bedrock in connection with foundation design & construction projects. This may include test boring inspection, monitoring deep and shallow foundation installation, and ground improvements.
• Perform various geotechnical engineering calculations and modeling for settlement, bearing capacity, slope stability, retaining walls, and pavement designs.
• Perform technical analysis of soil samples.
• Prepare field and engineering reports, technical specifications, and other technical documents.
• Provide geotechnical design for a variety of civil projects.
• Perform construction-phase field observation.
• Other related activities as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND COMPETENCIES:
• BS in Civil Engineering or related field, with a focus on geotechnical course work.
• 0 to 5 years engineering/geology experience; experience with test borings advantageous.
• Experience with engineering software; AutoCAD, HydroCAD, SEEP/W, SLOPE/W, L-pile, Plaxis, and GIS Systems advantageous.
• Knowledge of geotechnical design principals.
• Attention to detail and the ability to think critically.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated with a professional attitude.
• Active participation in professional and community organizations preferred.
