About the Department

The Neuromodulation Research Center is primarily focused on understanding the pathophysiology of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease and dystonia as well as the
mechanisms underlying the therapeutic effect of deep brain stimulation. Much of the work focuses on the ultimate translation of basic laboratory research discoveries into
clinical treatment options for affected patients in order to reduce symptoms, minimize side effects and enhance function and quality of life. The laboratory forms key
collaborations with other experts in neurology as well as other disciplines such as neurosurgery, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, and radiology in addition to the
medical industry to expedite and enhance new discoveries and their meaningful translation from "bench to bedside."
Our lab incorporates our dedication to multidisciplinary research into the expectations we have for our junior lab members. Therefore, a qualified applicant to fill the position
of Researcher I must be willing to engage with our research at great depth and breadth. Although the primary role of this position is to independently record neurophysiological and
behavioral data according to our experimental design, they will also be expected to assist with data pre-processing in preparation for higher level post-processing performed by our
research associates. Other responsibilities include behavioral training of our non-human primates, maintaining the health and safety of our lab animals, and providing assistance with
poster presentations and publications. The researcher will also participate in daily lab upkeep and equipment maintenance and design.
