Waushara County is currently accepting applications for full-time
Correctional Officers (non-sworn) to establish an Eligibility List.
Basic requirements include High school diploma/GED equivalent, no felony
convictions, valid Wisconsin Driver\'s license, good verbal and written
communication skills and an ability to handle stressful situations. Pay
range \$22.41-\$23.77/hr. . (based on relevant experience), with

\* Supervises and cares for inmates of the County Jail within
established policies and procedures. \* Maintains discipline and
enforces the rules and regulations pertaining to the facility and may
employ a reasonable amount of force to quell disturbances and maintain
discipline. \* Receives and books inmates and assigns and escort inmates
to cells, dormitories or Pod areas. \* Issue uniforms, bedding and other
supplies; assists in the orientation of inmates; and, assists in the
operation of food service. \* Inspects and searches inmates and their
living areas for cleanliness, contraband and order. \* May transport and
oversee inmates to activities, work assignments, court and health care
facilities. \* Assigns, supervises and inspects the work of trustees
engaged in maintaining the cleanliness of the facility or in the
preparation of meals. \* Performs general housekeeping and maintenance
duties in the facility as needed and may assist in the operation of
laundry equipment. \* Completes violation reports of jail rules. \*
Provides a positive rehabilitative influence to inmates within the
guidelines established by the Jail Administrator. \* Observes the inmate
population and makes periodic reports regarding their attitude and
behavior. \* Prepares, presents and maintains written and oral reports
and records as required. \* Dispenses and records prescribed and PRN
medications to the inmate population and maybe required to administer
basic first aid or CPR or both. \* Maintains regular and predictable
attendance. \* Promote, get along and work in harmonious relationship
with others including but not limited to outside agencies and county
departments. \* Be able to perform duties, follow policy and procedures
independent of direct supervision. \* Performs other duties as required

OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Experience: Skill in being able to
safely and effectively deal with incoming inmates who are drunk or under
the influence of drugs and possibly armed. Must be able to handle
several problems at once. Qualifications: \*Knowledge of policies and
procedures employed in receiving, releasing and maintaining the custody
of prisoners. Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, first aid
principles and CPR. Knowledge of the operation and purpose of detention
facilities and to the related treatment and security programs used at
such facilities. \*Ability to follow written and oral instructions,
handle prisoners and public charges without antagonizing them or
provoking disorder, and to evaluate and respond to prisoners health
requirements. Employer will require: written exam, oral interviews,
psychological profile, medical examination, drug screening, background
investigation, physical fitness/agility screening. Ability to work
weekends, and holidays. \*Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
