Fairview Health Services Pharmacy Technician IV - Home Infusion in Minneapolis, Minnesota

Overview

Under the direction of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician IV – Home Infusion is responsible for day-to-day comprehensive pharmacy technician services in a complex Home infusion pharmacy. This will include compounding medications using sterile aseptic technique, running total parenteral nutrition, maintaining the ISO 7 buffer room, abiding by USP 797 regulations, and inventory management. Lead Technicians will be competent on Materials, Staging, and Hazardous Drug handling areas.

Responsibilities Job Description

Partner with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to ensure pharmacy patients receive their medication(s) accurately, safely, in accordance with all legal requirements and policies and in a professional and timely manner.

Under the direction of the pharmacist, fulfill and prepare prescription orders for delivery in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with all legal, regulatory agency and Fairview requirements.

Train new employees in aseptic technique and be a preceptor. Perform audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and accredited standards. Coordinate covering staffing shortages. Participate in the development and implementation of new processes and improvements.

Qualifications

Required

Experience

Minimum of 3 years pharmacy technician experience, completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program OR one year of experience as a pharmacy clerk or like position within a healthcare setting.

IV Sterile compounding background

License/Certification/Registration

Registered Technician with Minnesota Board of Pharmacy

Sterile Buffer Room Environment

When working in the buffer room, no visible jewelry, piercings, or cosmetics are allowed.

Preferred

Education

Graduate of Pharmacy Technician program

Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician training program

License/Certification/Registration

Pharmacy certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board

Sterile Compounding Certification Board
