Division Information
PACCAR's Information Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA, utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.
The Team
This position works with Network and UC teams to isolate and resolve faults in the PACCAR network. This position contributes to the deployment and support of network services used by PACCAR employees, dealers, customers, and shareholders..
Possible Projects
Global Tooling IT Hardware Refresh: Work as part of the ITD Network team on end-of-life hardware replacements including routers, switches, access points, and wireless controllers.
Global Networking End Point Switches End of Support Replacement: Work as part of the ITD Network team in collaboration local IT support teams through the PACCAR enterprise to replace end-of-life Cisco Catalyst 3650 switches with Catalyst 9300 switches. Includes use of Cisco DNAC for provisioning and management.
Global WAN Expansion: Work with a variety of ITD Renton teams to deploy and manage virtual infrastructure in transit gateways around the world providing access to Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform public and privatized resources.
Global NA and AU Cable and Wireless Remediation: Work as part of the ITD Network team in collaboration local IT support teams through the PACCAR enterprise to refresh the cable plants and enhance wireless coverage in multiple PACCAR facilities.
Job Responsibilities
Provide 2nd level support on PACCAR's network infrastructure, services, and peripheral equipment. Works with stakeholders to resolve service requests and incidents.
Use knowledge base and mentorship opportunities to troubleshoot network & UC related problems.
Assist with the installation and integration of new technologies into proof-of-concept and pilot deployments.
Diagnose and resolve layer 1 issues including low voltage wiring supporting network and UC installations. No line voltage requirements.
Contribute to cross-functional teams globally.
Required Experience & Skills
1-2+ years of Network specific training or formalized education.
Understanding of basic low voltage cabling and fiber standards.
Interest in network deployment and maintenance.
Exposure to troubleshooting Cisco switching and wireless solutions.
Exposure to troubleshooting connectivity issues including carrier services.
Interest in network operations and network analysis tools.
Interest in provisioning and deprovisioning processes.
Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to complete operations and network documentation.
Preferred Experience & Skills
1-2+ years of experience working in an enterprise network.
Experience tracing copper and fiber cable runs.
Experience identifying physical cabling including knowledge of cat 5 low voltage color coding.
Understanding of basic low voltage cabling and fiber standards.
Experience in network deployment and maintenance. Experience troubleshooting Cisco switching and wireless
solutions. Experience troubleshooting connectivity issues including carrier services.
Experience with network operations and network analysis tools. Packet capture and analysis skills desired.
Experience provisioning and deprovisioning hardware and software including updating record keeping systems.
Education
Enrolled in Undergraduate or Graduate degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science
Progress toward Cisco CCNA or CCNP Certifications desired.
Progress toward Associate in Arts & Sciences in Computer Science or similar Bachelor's degree in a related field
desired.
