Serves as part of the rehabilitation care team and as an expert in developing and implementing
developmental performance plans to bridge formal rehabilitation and client activity goals. The
performance clinic athletic trainer is responsible for being a part of the performance team with coaching
groups of athletes, adults and individuals to reach their highest levels in preparation for competition and

Essential Functions
• Perform appropriate patient intake for a variety of medical and musculoskeletal conditions. This
includes, but is not limited to, thorough history of condition or injury, chief complaint, assessment
of pain level, completion and / or review of past medical history, family history social history and
medication reconciliation. Perform appropriate physical examination per patient history and chief
complaint. This includes but is not limited to palpation of the affected area and unaffected area,
range of motion testing, strength testing / manual muscle testing / dynamic muscle testing,
myotome/dermatome testing, ligamentous stress testing, or functional testing. At direction of
supervising therapist, perform appropriate point of care testing.
• Document all aspects of treatment progression, testing appropriately within the EMR. Triage
patient messages, phone calls and questions appropriately, whether it is resolving issue within the
scope of practice or utilizing therapist, or other ancillary staff as needed to resolve question.
Manage EMR communication in a timely manner and communicates both delays, and
results/subsequent plan of care in a courteous, efficient, and patient-appropriate manner.
Respond to problems/opportunities to improve patient care & customer service. Serve as
preceptor to undergraduate athletic training student interns.
• Based on patient diagnosis, current activity level and patient care plan goal, collaborates with
supervising therapist to: Develop and teach an appropriate home exercise program. Effectively
educate patient as to why any of the above or combination of the above is included in the plan of
care.
• Uses current best practices for concussion evaluation and care, which includes but is not limited
to: Symptom scoring via detailed clinical interview. ImPACT neurocognitive test. Vestibular Ocular
Motor Screen. Balance Assessment. Recognition of symptom clusters, clinical trajectories based
on symptom presentation
• Collaborates with supervising therapist to develop a specific concussion care plan for each patient
that includes academic and physical recommendations based on clinical assessment.
• Foster positive relationships with participants, team members, partners and potential clients.
Support growth with outreach initiatives and community engagement activity. Work independently
while maintaining departmental standards.
• Demonstrates good working knowledge of various training techniques, flexibility and creativity in
implementation of these techniques. Designs plans in coordination with medical providers and
other services the patient is receiving. Maintain accurate records. Demonstrates awareness and
use of proper safety measures regarding patients. Functions as part of the interdisciplinary team.
• Cover community events and or sport functions as needed.

Qualifications
Education
