Job Title | Student Assistant (Organic Laboratory Teaching) |

General Description | This is a student position responsible for assisting in the organic chemistry laboratory and promoting a positive learning environment for students. Works under general supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. |
Job Duties | 1. Assists in maintaining safety in the lab. 2. Enforces department safety rules. 3. Provides technical instruction on basic laboratory equipment. 4. Answers general questions related to the lab. 5. Assists in organizing students. 6. Assists in properly ending/cleaning the lab. 7. Meets with faculty member in charge of the lab as necessary. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | 1. Knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures. 2. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public. 3. Ability to understand and follow instructions. |
Required Qualifications | Qualified applicants MUST have completed CHEM 3332/3132 at SFA with a grade of B or higher. Training and instruction will be provided. |

Special Conditions for Eligibility | A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester. Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant. |
