We have professional project management and logistics staff as well as highly skilled field personnel capable of performing all aspects of our projects. Our team plans, conducts all logistics, executes, and manages heavy industry construction projects across the state, supporting development in some of the most environmentally and logistically complex locations in the world. Some of our notable work, including wind energy installation, communication tower installation, diesel generation upgrades and community bulk fuel system upgrades have provided even the most remote communities with essential services.
What can you expect?
As the Procurement & Logistics Coordinator, you are responsible for assistance in coordinating logistics and assisting with procurement and purchasing activities for STG Inc. This position works in the office, outdoors in the yard performing general laborer duties, and drives a company vehicle to support department needs.
How will you do it?
- Receive and process order Requisition Forms for operations and construction projects in a timely manner.
- Frequently check e-mail for requisitions.
- Respond quickly to phone calls and voicemails.
- Prioritize orders.
- Obtain order approval as outlined in STG Inc.’s Procurement Standard Operating Procedure.
- Issue Purchase Orders per vendor to complete order requests in full.
- Place orders with vendors, ensuring accurate pricing and lead times on all goods ordered.
- Coordinate and document parts and materials for shipping and receiving in Anchorage.
- Work directly with P&L team members, Foremen, Project Managers, and field personnel to ensure order accuracy.
- Reconcile vendor Pick Tickets to associated Requisitions & Purchase Orders in Anchorage.
- Reconcile packing lists to purchase orders for freight sent directly to Seattle ports.
- Reconcile Requisition forms to orders received from vendors and provide timely order status updates to order requestor and involved parties.
- Use the internet and other resources to research parts, materials, and supplies.
- Expedite and coordinate with team members to ensure timely delivery and pick up of goods.
- Track orders and follow up as needed to confirm delivery.
- Package, label and load goods for shipment.
- Operate loader to load and off-load trucks and trailers and move material.
- Assist with organizing and loading shipping containers and flats in preparation for logistics moves.
- Assist with inventory, organization, and storage in the company yards.
- Drive a company vehicle, ranging from a regular pickup, van, or flatbed truck up to 1.5 tons with large loads.
- Pick up and deliver orders and materials from vendors, freight companies, etc.
- Make supply and grocery order runs, including shopping, loading, and packing for shipment.
- Utilize equipment management software (Manager+) to track assets, equipment, maintenance and repairs, utilization, costs, location, etc.
- Provide administrative support to the Procurement & Logistics Department, including:
- Answer multiline phone system and route calls.
- Maintain paper and electronic files.
- Operate office equipment such as a computer, copier, and scanner.
- Provide Management with equipment-related research and reporting as needed.
- Establish and maintain positive and professional long-term relationships with carriers and vendors.
- Work as a “team-player” with co-workers and business associates in a respectful and supportive manner.
- Report any incident, situation or activity that may affect the company’s ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to company management or designated safety personnel.
- Attend and actively participate in meetings.
- Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Abilities you must have to be successful:
- Intermediate knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and terminology.
- Intermediate knowledge of major construction vendors relevant to Alaska.
- Basic knowledge of standard hazardous material transportation and handling protocols.
- Basic knowledge of remote Alaska logistics and associated freight companies.
- Knowledge of Anchorage, Nome, and Bethel area with ability to navigate the road system.
- Knowledge and ability to follow all state and local driving laws.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct business ethically and professionally and represent STG Inc. in a positive manner.
- Strong self-motivation and work ethic; ability to work without direct supervision and productively manage time.
- Strong computer skills, particularly a firm working knowledge of the internet, Smartsheet, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong organizational skills: able to multi-task, organize resources, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on pending items.
- Excellent record keeping skills, including creating and maintaining written documentation and managing paper and electronic files.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with vendors, carriers, and staff.
- Ability to exercise a high degree of attention to detail.
- Ability to accurately process, reconcile and track orders.
- Ability to use the internet to research parts, materials, and suppliers.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to work in a team environment, take direction and receive input from multiple people at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; change approach or method to best fit the situation; able to deal with frequent changes.

Who is STG Inc. looking for?
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 3 years of procurement and/or logistics experience in the construction industry required.
- Department of Transportation (DOT) medical card required.
- Valid Alaska driver’s license and must be qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of STG’s Driving Policy.
- Ability to operate motor vehicles, ranging from regular size pickups to flatbed trucks up to 1.5 tons with large loads, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to operate a loader with forks and safely move materials.
- Ability to pass a drug, driving record, and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Construction industry procurement and/or purchasing preferred.
- Prior experience in Alaska’s rural construction industry and/or with local construction vendors preferred.
- Equipment parts knowledge preferred.
- Hazmat Transportation certification preferred.
