SUPERVISOR ON-SITE MRI

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Radiology Director and the Radiologist Director, supervises both on-and-off-site MRI Centers. Develops and implements policies for Center.  Plans for employee staffing, recruits, trains, and evaluates staff.  Participates in setting Department goals.  Develops and manages section budget. Directs the daily schedule of examinations with the assigned radiologist.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1. Develops plans for service in cooperation with the Radiologist Director, Radiology Manager and Chairman.  Establishes polices and procedures and monitors performance. 

 2.   Prepares and manages the service operating budget.  Intervenes as necessary to control expenses and reach volume and revenue goals.

 3.    Supervises staff and assures that quality patient care is delivered according to standards.  Interviews, selects, trains and mentors staff.  Evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions.  Prepares staff assignments and schedules to match patient load.

 4.    Maintains an effective quality control program.  Ensures that equipment is operating properly.  Prepares a variety of reports, logs and statistics on service activity.

 5.   Keeps abreast of developments within the specialty.  Identifies opportunities for improvement, growth, and savings.  Plans and implements changes.

 6.   Meets with vendor representatives.  Evaluates products and makes recommendations for purchase.  Selects appropriate supplies and assures proper inventory is maintained.

 7.   Establishes a working relationship with referring physician offices to properly coordinate care.

8.   Works with other supervisors and staff on department projects as needed.

9. Participates directly in patient care, regularly performing the duties of

a staff MRI Technologist. Call coverage is required.

10.   Implements and maintains an effective MRI safety program throughout both sites.  Provides screening, instruction and ongoing training for service personnel.

11.   Coordinates MRI Center function with the hospital site to efficiently match workloads.  Ensures that all staff maintain adequate competency at both sites.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

1.  Equivalent to high school education plus two years of formal training in radiologic technology with advanced training in MRI. 

2.  Completion of clinical internship and successfully passed radiography and MRI registry.

3.  Three years of diagnostic MRI experience. 

4. Strong supervisory, analytical, and interpersonal skills. 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Busy outpatient environment with exposure to high strength magnetic field and associated hazards.
