Hours: Monday – Wednesday: 3:15 PM – 2:45 AM; Thursday 3:15 PM – 10:15 PM; overtime as needed

JOB SUMMARY: As the Hand Polisher 2, you will be responsible for applying a polished surface to a wide variety of very complex stonework using a variety of hand tools.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
Interpreting production tickets to ensure the stone meets quality and order specifications
Operating the overhead crane and hydraulic lift table to move and turn stones as necessary
Laying out stone using patterns and a tape measure according to the production ticket to ensure the correct profiles, angles, and drill holes have been applied
Drilling holes in stone with a 30-pound hammer drill or handheld core drill machine
Marking the edges of stone with chalk; identifying where grinding and polishing need to be completed
Shaping the edges of the stone by blunting or rounding them with an 8-pound angle grinder.
Grinding and polishing a variety of stones; you will be using a 21-pound hand tool for a large portion of the day
Ensuring correct equipment is used to prevent damage to the stone
Applying a thermal finish to the stone using a handheld torch
Cleaning the stone with a chemical cleaning agent
Inspecting the stone when finished to ensure work has been completed according to the production ticket




SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Must be able to read work orders or production tickets, which may include dimensional drawings
Ability to read a tape measure, imperial and metric
Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another, to avoid interruptions in production
Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with an emphasis on time management
Must be mechanically inclined
Must have general math skills
Work as a self-motivated team member who adheres to all safety protocols and is willing to cross-train as needed





PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Carries and lifts up to 30 pounds
Uses eyes, wrists, hands, and fingers regularly
Wears personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, hearing protection, etc.
Stands regularly
