Description:      
An Aircraft Structures Technician holds a crucial role in L2 Aviation, responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of aircraft sheet metal components in support of avionics modifications. They are often tasked with inspecting, evaluating and diagnosing any issues with aircraft structures, deciding on the best solution to solve the problem and carrying out intricate repairs or modifications to a high standard. This job involves using specialist tools and techniques to form, cut, bend, drill and rivet sheet metal, ensuring the safety and airworthiness of the aircraft. As a member of the L2 Aviation Remote Avionics Modification Services (RAMS) team, an Aircraft Structures Technician has the opportunity to travel frequently and support a multitude of different projects.

Primary Responsibilities:


• Fabricate various sheet metal parts by interpreting blueprints, calculating angles, diameters, and bend allowances, and then cutting shaping, and forming the part.
• Inspect and repair aircraft sheet metal components.
• Install sheet metal components on aircraft.
• Fabricate sheet metal components for aircraft.
• Drill, ream and countersink holes on aircraft components.
• Perform riveting and other fastening techniques
• Research and identify potential solutions to meet design objectives.
• Plans and develops schemes for sheet metal repairs and/or modifications by utilizing blueprints, sketches, service bulletins, OEM or government specifications, engineering orders or other technical publications.
• Constructs dollies, jigs, and special tools as required.
• Ensure all work is completed per the maintenance manual, service bulletin, L2 Aviation RSQCM, FAA FAR or other approved documentation.
• In partnership with the RAMS Lead and Quality Inspectors ensure full compliance to all internal and FAA inspection and documentation requirements to include proper sign-off’s, completion of component removal sheets, etc.
• Maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist the avionics team in the routing of wires to support avionics modifications.
• Collaborate with a community of aerospace engineers and customer engineers.
• Solve real-world challenges.
• Remains cognizant of the status of aircraft programs assigned. Maintains awareness of anticipated irregularities that might contribute to or create a delay and notifies management and customers of all delay risks.
• Keeps Program Manager assigned current with status reports of all projects in work.
• Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues and informs the appropriate managers of possible issues at the earliest opportunity which might be detrimental to team spirit or the motivation of staff.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
• Prepares a variety of written correspondence and periodic and special reports regarding work performed.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of aircraft structural support for the integration of avionics and communication systems.
• Detail-oriented approach with a high level of accuracy in documentation and compliance
• Must be a team player with the innate ability to help the RAMS team achieve success and exceed customer expectations.
• Ability to work remotely on a frequent basis to varying locations and environments.
• Memory for detail, capacity for supporting team members to remain on path.
• Ability to fluently read, write, speak and understand the English language.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics and engineering documentation.
• Ability to support remote modifications with travel and on-site technical expertise on a constant basis both domestically and internationally as may be required.
• Ability to communicate in a professional, motivating and tactful manner.
• Must be legally able to work in USA and supply required supporting documentation.

Qualifications:


• Minimum of 6 years of experience in aerospace structures / sheet metal experience or equivalent training in the commercial aviation industry or military.
• Military Aircraft Structural Repair experience highly desired.
• Valid FAA Airframe or A&P license highly desired. 
• Demonstrated ability to read, interpret and understand blueprints and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Must be able to satisfy all DOT drug test requirements.
• Must have a valid passport and driver’s license.
• Must be able to pass a 10-year background check.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be willing to work extended hours and work consecutive days as needed. A normal workday is 12 hours.
• Must be able to work in prolonged standing positions. This also includes frequent bending, twisting, squatting, pulling, pushing and crawling.
• Must be able to work in confined spaces for wire routing, wire terminations or general modifications and maintenance.
• Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds.
• Must be able to work with components and tools of various sizes.
• Must be willing to work at various heights.
• Must be willing to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme cold, heat etc.
