This is a part-time, non-benefits eligible, hourly position working 19 hours or less per week. This position works 10 months out of the year.

Educational and Experience Requirement
High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. College or continued education courses in management, public safety, or communications desirable. Experience in a related field preferred.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Ensures safe and orderly transportation of students and staff on assigned routes.
Primary Responsibilities
Operates the SHSU Kat Tracks shuttle bus to transport students from the SHSU campus to Aldi, Walmart, and Target. Follows assigned route and adheres to established schedules. Checks bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notifies supervisor of needed repairs. Reports all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Completes required reports. Keeps assigned bus clean and fueled. Inspects bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving. Ensures proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crowbar, and reflector. Attends and completes required training program to maintain safety certification. Performs other driving related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications
Position requires driving and operating a University vehicle, therefore, a valid Texas driver license and driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier is required.

Continual sitting, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions. Working conditions involve moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes. Position will work indoors and outdoors. Attention and care is required in the performance of duties to prevent injury to self or others.

This position works as needed as a 2nd driver during the year. Will also provide driving services for Special Guests during Special Events held on campus.
