The Opportunity with McKinstry
Our engineering team is seeking a Senior Engineer to help scale our Zero+ Decarbonization Planning offering. In this role, you will support the delivery of complex building, high performance district energy, and portfolio-wide electrification and decarbonization projects. Additional responsibilities include:
Critical Design & Delivery:
Decarbonization and electrification of the built environment
Zero-carbon design and solutions
Optimized design across heating, ventilation, and other building systems
Indoor environment and air quality
Low-GWP refrigerant options
Human comfort and wellness strategies
High-performance retrofits
Department Leadership:
Coordinate with Engineering Associates and project leads throughout the life of the project.
Supervising, mentoring, training, and evaluating members of the design and engineering team.
Determining staffing needs to meet design schedules.
Engineering and Design:
Taking control and ownership of energy, carbon, and water assessments
Brainstorming to shake the status quo, challenge concepts and develop innovative design approaches.
Designing and proposing recommendations to optimize energy efficiency.
Coordinating with design teams on structural, architectural, civil, electrical and energy.
Performing a variety of early design tasks to help teams determine a preferred project direction.
Supporting design budget proposals for a variety of project types that appropriately reflect the effort required on any given project.
Planning, scheduling, supervising, and delegating to other engineering team members.
Client Relations:
Attending meetings with owners/developers/general contractors.
Establishing a line of communication with customers and upper management.
Enhancing department and organizational reputations by participating in professional groups critical to our business lines.
What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry
Eight (8) years of experience in mechanical design, engineering or related field required with a focus on high-performance buildings.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or engineering or equivalent work experience required.
P.E. registration is required.
Working knowledge of energy modeling analysis tools
Working knowledge of total cost of ownership and or life cycle cost analysis required.
LEED AP preferred.

The pay range for this position is $111,420- $187,000 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on market location. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
