Department OverviewThis is a fantastic opportunity to be a contributor in Motorola Solutions' growing command center software business. This role will be a finance analyst supporting our Cloud Platform Engineering (CPE) team and MSI's growth into the cloud while collaborating on the integration of a new cloud partner. The person in this role will work closely with business and finance teams to track, report and forecast MSI's spend with it's cloud partners.Job Description
This role will play a key role in helping the Command Center Software business manage R&D expenses and investments and continue the development of our CloudFinOps practice. The analyst will partner extensively with our Engineering and Product leaders to help quantify our product roadmap. Additionally, with the sizable investment associated with R&D and CloudFinOps, this analyst will serve as subject matter expert to planning and tracking our employee expenses, other Operating Expenses (OpEx) and Capital Expenses (CapEx). Primary areas of focus will include employee hiring and expense tracking, R&D planning, product roadmap quantification (in partnership with our business partners and other Finance teams) and business case facilitation. In CloudFinOps, the analyst will partner with engineering and procurement teams to monitor and report on spend and activity, forecast cloud migration expenses and assist our engineering partners with various ad hoc requests.
Key deliverables will include assistance in the creation of rolling forecasts of these areas as well as monthly and quarterly business reviews in addition to ad hoc business case analyses. Where possible the optimal outcome will be for the analyst to own many of these deliverables with support from their manager. The ideal candidate will have experience with headcount and other opex planning, preferably supporting Engineering and Product teams. Experience in forming business partnerships with senior leaders in an organization will also be beneficial in order to hit the ground running. EXPERIENCE
FP&A experience in a corporate environment
Successful track record working with business partners (i.e. engineering or product teams) to solve problems
Experience planning headcount, expense, capital planning and tracking
Able to work independently and comfortable leading meetings as the finance representative
Ability to translate key business drivers to financial outcomes through analysis and communicate business insights from financial metrics and operational data
Strong analytical skills, organization, and curiosity to develop new methods and processes
Proven record of successful collaboration with teams outside of Finance
Expert in Excel and Google Sheets
Experience with Smartview and Tableau a plus COMPETENCIES
