How is this Role Important to Our Work?
The underwriting intern will be responsible for assisting Underwriters with processing Client renewals and proposals, rating benefit changes, and other projects for Clients with over 50 eligible employees. The intern in this position needs to be able to work with many different types of people and be able to adapt to different situations using analytical and problem-solving skills.
A Day in the Life:

Real world knowledge of working with clients and internal customers.

Hands on experience working with Health Care products and their design and implementation.

Interact with Underwriters, Actuaries, Account Managers, and other Blue Cross staff.

Research client, member and benefit data using a variety of tools and software including Microsoft Office/Excel.

Review client documents for accuracy and note potential risk changes.

Review and update health plan benefit details and client group to benefit mapping in rating system.

Produce client reports and renewal rating output.

Assist in finalizing enrollment settlements.

Assist in Social Networking.


Nice to Have:

Must be motivated, organized, and possess strong communication skills.

This will be a summer internship, up to 40 hours a week. During the academic year, could reduce to around 20 depending on business need.

This is a remote work position, Minnesota based candidates preferred
Required Skills and Experiences:

Junior or Senior with a Math, Statistics, Finance or similar s major.

GPA of 3.0 or above

Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
