Involved in the preparation of medical and surgical instrumentation for distribution to and from the AU Health enterprise to include off-site affiliations. Operates decontamination and sterilization of equipment. Inspects, assembles, and wraps for sterilization simple to complex surgical instrument trays. Decontaminates high level disinfects for flexible endoscopes. Responsible for pulling and distributing case carts for procedures. Assists with the establishment and execution of quality control processes as it relates to sterile processing. Provides these services through knowledge and implementation of regulatory guidelines and designated policies and procedures. Works cooperatively with other members of the Sterile Processing team as well as the Operating Room with a sense of professionalism and ethical standard.



High School Diploma, GED or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization. No work experience required if candidate has HS diploma or GED. If candidate does not have HS diploma or GED, 5 years of work experience in sterile processing can be used in lieu of education. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation, Decontamination, and Sterilization. Certification(s) required: CRCST or CSPDT upon hire. Certified Instrumentation Specialist required within 2 years of hire.



Vocational or technical training or degree: Sterile Processing Training. 2 years or more of experience in sterile processing. Certified Instrumentation Specialist preferred.
