United Community School District is located between Ames and Boone on Highway 30. The district is made up of 133 square miles of agricultural, residential and business properties. We are proud of the diverse and unique programs that we offer at United for our preschool through sixth grade students. Our exemplary staff consists of dedicated, competent, and caring individuals who provide a student-centered learning environment. 

We offer high-quality preschool and before-and-after school childcare programs that are licensed by the Iowa Department of Human Services. 

Unique to our district is our Outdoor Classroom. This handicapped-accessible, thirteen-acre classroom and bird blind consists of natural prairie, and both a hardwood and an evergreen forest. This area is a source of continuous learning opportunities for both the students and the community.

At United, we provide a quality education for students through strong instructional skills of the staff, innovative educational opportunities, and by nurturing parent and community partnerships.  We have an active P.T.O. organization and patron advisory board. Our proximity to Iowa State University also allows us to work closely and share ideas with student teachers, work study students, tutors and professors.
