GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Embrace the holistic mission/ministry focus of The Salvation Army to assist individuals who seek assistance.
Ensure the effective and efficient supervision of Social Service workers and volunteers in all areas. Maintain established Social Service procedures to align with The Salvation Army policies. Supervise all volunteers, coordinate with agencies the placement of WEP workers and community service workers in line with The Salvation Army policies. Process all volunteers according to established policies.
Supervise social services ministry to adequately meet the needs of all clients without discrimination. Ensure that clients are interviewed in an adequate and timely manner. Oversee the timely interview of all clients seeking assistance for various human service needs in a manner that is consistent with Salvation Army policies. Keep Area Coordinators and DPO abreast of all social service’s needs.
In collaboration with Area Services and Corps Officers, plan and implement social services programs with an intentional purpose to bridge the gap between social service clients and corps programs to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional and social needs of all clients.
Recruit children of social service clients to participate in After-School/Learning Zone.
Recruit elderly clients and link them to Older Adult Ministries (SASSY) Be intentional about program growth and synergy of ministry.
Provide Area Coordinators and DPO monthly, stats of clients that are linked to Corps programs. Work in close consultation with both Corps Officers and DPO
Maintain inventory for social service programs and emergency disaster services programs.
Supervise volunteers to ensure all gifts-in-kind are receipted.
Collaborate with other social service agencies in the community, and be able to identify and recommend to Area Coordinators potential local social service funding sources.
Provide all required reports to Corps and DHQ for current social service funding sources
Assist in the identification, recruitment, training and utilization of volunteers for both local and seasonal social service activities. Coordinate volunteer activities including participation in aspect of kettle campaign. Recruit, interview, train and assign volunteers for Salvation Army programs as directed.
Work with DPO to solicit new volunteers by addressing local groups, churches and corporations. Keep volunteer brochures updated for distribution.
Assist DPO with all special projects: including all food drives, postal food drive, winter coats projects and other collaborations. Plan food drives with local businesses.
Oversee and work in consultation with Area Coordinators and DPO to assist where needed in the operations of all season social service programs: Community Christmas Dinner, Community Thanksgiving Dinner, Back to School, etc.
Participate in required social service counseling, and other appropriate trainings. Assign social services tasks to workers and ensure social services are conducted in a conducive manner.
Ensure all logs, forms and official documents pertaining to socials services are completed. Work to improve client quality assurance. Review effectiveness of social services on a monthly basis.
Maintain detailed communication logs and information for clients. Work as a team with Area Coordinators Corps Officers and DPO.
Make regular inspection of Food Pantry to ensure safety and compliance with established operational procedures, standard and regulations.
Possess a keen interest and ability to work with people of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic background in a sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
Possess high level of confidentiality, and good judgement.
Perform other duties as requested by Area Coordinators/Corps Officers/DPO
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Case Worker Supervisor and Special Events Coordinator shall supervise all social service workers and volunteers and ensure the smooth operation of the Social Services Ministry including Community Service Workers, WEP Workers, and Volunteers.
