About the Job

Strategic Senior Buyer role with a heavy industrial equipment manufacturer headquarted in Dayton, OH. This particular role needs an experienced Buyer with a knack for communicating with suppliers, evaluating supplier and price performance, and brainstorming ways to improve the purchasing process. Demonstrated experience with Excel, an ERP system, and/or automation are needed! This full time role includes strong benefits and PTO. This is a heavy industrial manufacturer, so experience sourcing mechanical components, steel, or related commodities and services are strongly preferred!

Job Functions:

* Procure goods and services to Engineering Design Specifications or Work Scopes.

* Negotiate prices, discount terms, or transportation arrangements with suppliers.

* Examine, select, order, or purchase goods and services consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, or other factors, such as environmental soundness.

* Obtain information about customer needs or preferences by conferring with Sales and/or Purchasing personnel.

* Process Engineering Cost Requests for purchased items.

* Initiate Engineering Change Requests or Permits to allow for lower cost, improved quality or delivery, lead time reduction of purchased parts.

* Evaluate, perform initial ISO audit, and recommend new suppliers for approval.

* Perform periodic audits of existing approved suppliers.

* Perform internal ISO audits as required.

* Develop, track and report agreed upon KPIs.

* Perform any other duties as assigned by the Materials Management Supervisor or Manager

Qualifications Required:

* Understanding of manufacturing processes including, but not limited to metal removal, metal forming, and castings

* Ability to read and interpret Engineering design specifications

* ERP and MRP experience required and strong computer skills to include Excel, Word, and Power Point

* Knowledge of the ISO 9001 process and requirements

* Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services

* Knowledge of business principles and coordination of people and resources

* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to multi-task, prioritize, complete tasks, and function well in a fast-paced environment

* Ability to analyze information, problem solve, and evaluate results to choose the best solution

* Ability to be personally connected to others on the job and maintain a professional demeanor with a positive attitude

* Diligent attention to detail

* Able to work independently and efficiently

* Strong continuous improvement and customer focus

Education & Experience:

* Bachelor's degree in field or similar area

* 5+ years of experience as a Buyer supporting a manufacturing operation
