Job Description
This position will help with the management and deployment of all technology within the Auxiliary Services division. The Computer Consultant II will install, implement, and train users on hardware and software, as well as help develop new technology processes and streamline operations within the Auxiliary Services division. This position will be responsible for day-to-day help desk operations in conjunction with our computer consultant I positions, as well as working directly with the Data Systems Administrator on larger scale projects and installations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or IT preferred.
  • Three (3) plus years of experience with IT support, server management and active directory.
  • Experience managing desktops and laptops in a large environment.
  • Experience software deployments in a large environment.
  • Experience with enterprise level project participation.
Job Specific Qualifications
  • Active Directory experience, such as group policy management.
  • Virtual Server Management utilizing vCenter & vSphere.
  • Windows server administration (2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Windows operating systems (7, 10,11).
  • MacOS operating systems and JAMF a plus.
  • PC Troubleshooting, repair, and research.
  • Basic understanding of firewalls and network security appliances and network protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills, being a self-starter and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to multi-task and work on multiple issues/projects concurrently all while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong documentation skills, ability to present solutions and ideas to end users in layman’s terms.
  • Programming language knowledge such as PowerShell, Python as well as SQL.
  • SharePoint management knowledge a plus.
  • Point of Sale systems knowledge, specifically Oracle Micros and Oracle NetSuite a plus.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for supporting, maintaining, monitoring, updating, troubleshooting, and repairing department computer systems (including servers, desktops, and laptops), network components, software, and applications.
  • Provides technical expertise on vendor supported systems and equipment configurations, assists in development of hardware and software performance\ evaluations, recommends optimum equipment configurations, and implements and maintains other system software.
  • Monitor help desk requests and evaluate higher volume requests with team to determine potential for solutions to reduce ticket numbers.
  • Acting as an escalation point for computer consultant I when higher technical knowledge is necessary to resolve issue.
  • Create and update documentation on known solutions to disseminate knowledge to department and end users.
  • Help maintain inventory management system adhering to PCI chain of custody of all PCI related devices as well as regular hardware and software licenses that need to be tracked.
  • Works closely with Data Systems Administrator in project deployment and implementation for the Auxiliary Services division, including Point of Sale upgrades, deployment, and replacements.
  • Acts as technical liaison between Auxiliary Services departments and vendors for vendor supported hardware and software.
  • Work with vendors on integrations across SU managed applications and vendor supported systems.
  • Maintaining Auxiliary Services Digital Content Software for all digital menu boards across the division. Including deploying new features, resolving software and hardware related issues, and working with the vendor on enhancements.
  • Participates in after hours on call rotation as well as remote events for hardware and software support of athletic and student related events.
