Director of Audiology, Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery, University of Minnesota
The University of Minnesota Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is searching for an assistant/associate/full professor level candidate to lead its Audiology program. We are searching for a candidate with a demonstrated track record of clinical excellence and academic productivity. The successful candidate will provide clinical audiology leadership in a multi-subspecialty Audiology program which is well integrated into the clinical and research mission of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
It is expected that the candidate will develop a clinical practice in their area of expertise. It is also expected that the candidate will develop a research program. Interaction and collaboration with the department's basic and translational scientists is also desired where possible.
Principal Responsibilities
Provide clinical and academic leadership in audiology to audiology practitioners at MHealth Fairview and Otolaryngology faculty, focusing on the Division of Otology and Neurotology.
Assume clinical leadership responsibilities in collaboration with the Neurotology Division Chief, and in partnership with the administrative dyad partner from MHealth Fairview Audiology leadership.
Develop new clinical programs to ensure that the University of Minnesota remains in the forefront in diagnostic and treatment options.
Responsible for on-going competency and clinical training of audiology practitioners.
Bring visibility to established clinical programs in cochlear implantation and skull base surgery, and develop a tertiary care practice in vestibular disorders.
Academic responsibilities will include teaching residents, fellows, medical students as well as audiology practicum students and externs.
Initiate and maintain a research program focused on one or more areas of audiology, such as vestibular research, clinical neurophysiology, or cochlear implants.
Provide expertise and support for resident and fellow research in the area of expertise.
Where appropriate, initiate proposals for external funding.
Minimum Qualifications
We are seeking an individual with an academic doctorate in Audiology or Hearing Science in addition to a professional degree (e.g. MA/MS + PhD or AuD + PhD).
We are seeking an individual with a track record in a medical setting with demonstrated effective interaction and collaboration with physician colleagues.
The successful candidate must have experience as a clinical provider in one or more areas of audiology and/or vestibular sciences.
Possess strong communication skills and a proven track record to lead colleagues.
Possess or be able to obtain Audiology licensure in Minnesota.
Desired Qualifications
Evidence of being successful in program development.
Evidence of ability to develop a cohesive clinical team.
Experience in mentoring students and trainees.
Active external funding is not a must, but is highly desirable, as are evidence of training and experience in seeking and/or successfully obtaining external funding.
National and international recognition is also desirable.
