Diagnostic Medical Sonographers use imaging devices that emit sound waves to create the image that will help physicians assess and diagnose various conditions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for flexibility and increased work/life balance while maintaining their license and/or registration.
Our Weekender Flex Program allows caregivers to work 48 hours per pay period with weekend shift options starting at 3:00pm on Fridays and ending at 8:00am on Mondays. The caregiver in this role will have a part-time status and be eligible for part-time benefits/PTO, but will be eligible for full-time tuition reimbursement benefits. Join our team and together, provide exceptional patient care.
A caregiver in this position works nights, 7:00pm – 7:00am + on-call.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging through the application of non-ionizing, high-frequency sound waves for patients of all ages.

Perform ultrasound studies (i.e. obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, retro peritoneal, small parts, pediatric, and vascular).
-
Consult with referring physicians regarding patients' medical history and selection of appropriate procedures and equipment required for proper diagnosis.
-
Review charts, previous reports and requisition prior to the exam.
-
Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
-
Ensure patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
-
Assist with scheduling of patients and schedule all emergency patients for diagnostic ultrasound procedures.
-
Monitor all appointments scheduled for ultrasound examinations.
-
Perform preliminary research on patients when preparations are not provided and determine priority of patients based on the daily schedules.

Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS.
-
Complete after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
-
Immediately report any malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator.
-
Process billing via RIS.
-
Ensure proper function of ultrasound equipment and notify clinical engineering of any equipment malfunctions.
-
Adequately supply exam rooms with linen and related medical supplies.
-
Assist with clinical instruction of ultrasound students and residents and in-service education of caregivers.
-
Assist with orienting new caregivers to the equipment, department procedures and scanning protocols.
-
Demonstrate ultrasound equipment for caregivers and visitors.
-
Potentially rotate through all diagnostic imaging modalities, sites and/or locations.
-
Assist in new investigative techniques, procedures and equipment.
-
Maintain the most up to date knowledge in the field through self-motivated education and attendance of appropriate conferences and symposiums.

RDMS must be maintained and in good standing.

If working within the Imaging Institute, perform non-invasive vascular studies to include veins, arteries, pulse volume readings and assist the physician during invasive studies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an accredited school in Diagnostic Medical Sonography and in good standing

If working within the OBGYN/Women’s Health Institute: must be a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within one year of hire. Certification within OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) must be obtained within one year of hire

If working within the Imaging Institute: must be a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) RT(S) or RT(VS) upon hire. Must have one certification within abdominal (RDMS, AB), OB/GYN (RDMS, OB/GYN) or vascular (RVT, VT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) upon hire. The other two certifications must be obtained within 18 months of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Physical Requirements:

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.
