About the Job



Summary of Position:
The Data Analytics Manager (DAM) will oversee a team of data analysts and data scientists in the Center for Learning Health System Sciences (CLHSS) and partner with CLHSS leadership. CLHSS is composed of a core and five programs spanning the data-knowledge-practice LHS lifecycle including evidence synthesis, pragmatic trials, digital health, and data democratization and model development.
The DAM will provide overall leadership and planning for the data analytics strategy, managing 3-5 full-time staff, and interfacing with IT, clinical, and academic stakeholders. The DAM will report to the Research Operations Director and work closely with the center leadership team and staff from project intake, to establish work plans and assign resources based on priorities, assess risk and build contingency plans, and resolve issues.
The ideal candidate for this position will be both business savvy and have an understanding of data science/analytics including various data technologies in order to support and develop staff and processes for end-to-end research project management. Problems encountered are varied and unpredictable and typically are resolved with minimal guidance and oversight from the supervisor. Position Description:
40%: Portfolio Management
In coordination with the Data Programs Manager, plan, develop, and manage the Data Analytics portfolio of the center. In partnership with center leadership, develop dynamic analytic capabilities to satisfy clinical research, quality improvement, and operational data needs; aligning elegant solutions to fit internal needs with external reporting mechanisms to optimize accuracy and efficiency.
Direct incoming requests for data analytics/data science services to ensure appropriate resourcing and prioritization. Support ISO (internal service organization) processes as they relate to requests.
Educate and influence interest holders to enable timely data collection, analysis, and modeling outputs, resulting in a proactive results-oriented environment.
Develop and track milestones and metrics to demonstrate program value and maturity.
Partner with the regulatory specialist to ensure that regulatory compliant standard operating procedures are followed center-wide.
Facilitate and structure workflows for Center leadership, investigators and UMN staff, collaborators at M Health Fairview and other health system partners, external research personnel, advisors, consultants, and faculty.
Support the development of a data science project lifecycle, including seamless handoff of projects from inception/data request to the next CLHSS program/team.
Ad hoc, may also serve as data analyst on sponsored or non-sponsored research and initiatives
25%: People Management
Provide leadership for staff and foster a professional, diverse and equitable working environment within the center for people from all backgrounds, communities, and identities, where staff are empowered and accountable.
Directly oversee and manage CLHSS data analysts and data scientists, who will be matrixed to assigned research programs based on skills and expertise, to meet defined project deliverables, annual goals and metrics.
Develop staff capacity and consult with program leadership to determine staff work plans and goals with overall center and program strategies.
Develop strategic relationships with cross-organizational stakeholders from clinical, technical, research, and faculty areas while mitigating competing requests for resources.
15%: CLHSS Strategy & Optimization
Actively participate on the center management team
Collaborate on program- and center-wide strategic planning.
Present to the CLHSS external and internal advisory boards. Synthesize and operationalize advisory board recommendations as appropriate.
Work Arrangements:
This position follows UMN Work. With Flexibility. guidelines. Currently, the position will be primarily working from home. There may be occasional needs to be on campus and over time there may be a need to set a regular schedule for a few days on campus each week. Work hours should follow a regular schedule between 7-5, M-F.

Salary range: $90-100K

Qualifications



Required Qualifications:
BA/BS in a STEM field with at least 4 years of research/project management experience or an advanced degree plus 2 years of related experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 8 years
At least two years of experience as a data analyst or data scientist, can be a portion of total years of experience needed to meet minimum stated above.
Strong analytical skills and technology skills with established organization and project management strategies to keep track of details in the context of the larger objectives and manage multiple responsibilities and projects
Ability to work independently, as a part of a team, and with changing priorities
Demonstrated ability to lead projects, set and maintain deadlines, prioritize assignments, proactively problem-solve, evaluate team progress and related team dynamics
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
Proficient with Google and Microsoft Office suite.
Commitment to positive team dynamics, client satisfaction, and creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working on a multi-disciplinary team
Experience with clinical and/or translational research
Experience with leading teams and/or staff in a direct or matrixed capacity
Experience with regulatory aspects (e.g. IRB and FDA) of conducting clinical research
University of Minnesota experience
Healthcare experience or experience working in a healthcare system
Experience working on federally funded projects
HIPAA & CITI Training
Master's degree or project management certification
Proactive, self-starting work ethic
