MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE: Four (4) years’ experience as a Laboratory Generalist (must include 4 years’ experience in each of the following: Phlebotomy, Chemistry, Blood Gases, Hematology/Coagulation/Serology, and Urinalysis), four (4) years’ experience in Transfusion Medicine, four (4) years’ experience in Microbiology, and verifiable experience in basic Laboratory Informatics/LIS, advanced computer skills, and basic procedure writing/development. In addition, basic supervisor or management experience is desired.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, or equivalent, from an accredited institution. An equivalent training program that satisfies the requirements stipulated by CLIA (subpart M, section 493.1489) may be considered with the approval of the Laboratory Medical Director.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Current ASCP certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), MT, or equivalent certification, with approval by the Laboratory Medical Director

Job Description:
North Shore Health is seeking applicants for a Laboratory Administrative Director. The Laboratory Administrative Director (LD-A), under the direction of the Hospital Administrator and Laboratory Medical Director (LD), is responsible for all duties as stated in the Laboratory Administrative Director Position Description.

The LD-A directs, supervises, and oversees the operations of the Laboratory, develops and manages the departmental budgets, provides organizational leadership to develop effective staffing, and takes an active role in the facility leadership group. The LD-A also maintains competency as a Med Tech (MLS).
