Minimum Education and Experience
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in a nonprofit development role.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Demonstrated experience with CRM or relational database (Bloomerang preferred).
• Ability to undergo and pass a background study as detailed in Minnesota Statute 144.057 and Chapter 245C.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to create, build and maintain strong relationships with donors.
• Knowledge of successful fundraising strategies and practices.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and social skills, especially verbal and listening skills, among a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to ask for gifts and to discuss financial topics with a wide range of donors.
• Flexibility and enthusiasm to improve and enhance current systems and processes.
• Mature judgement, initiative and ability to make independent and effective decisions and work without close supervision.

V. Working Conditions and Environment:
This position is located in a supportive housing building for adults living with HIV/AIDS and other disabilities. Many of the residents are formerly homeless individuals. The building is accessible and smoke free.
Clare Housing’s administrative office is a typical co-working office space, which can be noisy at times. Privacy booths and meeting rooms are available for use when quiet or privacy is needed. Duties require extensive use of a computer/keyboard.

II. Job Summary:
The Donor Engagement Specialist supports Clare Housing’s mission by establishing and deepening relationships with key constituents capable of providing financial support to the organization.
Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the Donor Engagement Specialist will use best practices and fundraising knowledge to broaden and deepen Clare Housing’s base of individual support. A key area of emphasis for this position is building a high performing donor acquisition program and cultivating and stewarding mid-level gift donors.
This is a full-time position. Starting salary is $62,000-$65,000. Benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 4% match of 403B retirement fund, Paid Time Off, Free Virtual Doctor visits and Counseling, Life insurance, STD, LTD. Schedule is flexible with the understanding that an onsite presence during regular business hours is required for at least 24 hours/week and that there are occasional evening and weekend events, some of which this role will be required to attend. This position will work closely with a team of dedicated fundraising and communication professionals to advance the health and housing stability of people living with HIV.

III. Core Job Functions:
The Donor Engagement Specialist works cross-functionally with the entire Advancement Team. This position focuses on the acquisition and retention of new donors, manages a portfolio of mid-level individual donors and participates in community outreach events.
• Manage a portfolio of ~100 current and prospective mid-level donors (annual giving range of $1,000 - $2,500) with an emphasis on cultivating these donors to deeper engagement.
• Develop and execute strategies for donor acquisition to expand the pipeline of mid-level and major donors.
• Work with development team to create and implement an engaging donor cultivation plan to retain first time donors and cultivate mid-level donors for increased annual fund giving.
• Use donor database to manage contacts, moves and relationships and track progress in cultivating donors.
• Serve as the primary liaison for the Journey Home Circle giving society; define JHC membership criteria, manage key communications and develop meaningful benefits and engagement opportunities for JCH donors.
• Work in partnership with the Event Manager to coordinate Clare Housing’s participation at a range of community outreach events.
