About the Job



Title: Library Assistant
Job Family: Non-Exempt Temp/Casual
Job Code: 0001


Pay rate: $17.13/hour

Work hours: Monday-Friday, hours TBD


Typical Duties:
Provide assistance to library patrons in-person and over the phone
Shelve, shelf-read, and perform stacks maintenance
Plan, design, and create library programs and displays
Coordinate workflow of student workers in absence of supervisor
Assist with training of new student employees
Provide back-up staffing for desks, as needed

Qualifications



Basic Qualifications:
Problem-solving and communication skills
Independent decision-making abilities
Excellent customer service skills

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
In-depth knowledge of Alma and other library processes and resources
Extensive knowledge of the University Libraries systems, policies, procedures and referral information for library users
Skilled in triaging library questions to relevant staff members
Experience with library customer service skills, problem solving, and handling difficult situations
