Job Summary
The Department of Occupational Therapy at Radford University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2024. The Department of Occupational Therapy offers a Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree program in two campus locations, including Radford and Roanoke, Virginia. We offer both, an in-person MOT degree option as well as an MOT hybrid bridge track for Occupational Therapy Assistants. The primary campus location for this position is in Radford but teaching across campus locations (Radford and Roanoke) and in both MOT tracks (in-person and hybrid) is expected.

The successful candidate for this position will:

  • Teach across the curriculum with an emphasis on pediatrics
  • Advise and mentor MOT graduate students
  • Supervise level I fieldwork students
  • Contribute to a departmental scholarship agenda
  • Serve on a variety of committees at the departmental and University level
  • Take part in curriculum and program development

Our Roanoke location is 40 miles from main campus in the ‘Star City’ with beautiful mountain views and an urban vibe. The city of Roanoke is home to more than 70 parks, the Blue Ridge Parkway, and was named one of the ten most bike-friendly areas in the United States. Many local festivals such as the Go Outside Festival and the Local Colors Festival are enjoyed by residents annually.
The region overall offers an abundance of recreation opportunities at nearby rivers, lakes, parks, and forests. Dozens of biking, hiking, and water trails are accessible within a 30-60 minute drive, including access points to the Appalachian Trail, George Washington & Jefferson National Forest, and the New River Trail.

Several metropolitan areas can be reached within a few hours by car, bus, or train from Radford and Roanoke, including:

· Richmond, VA (3-3 ½ hours)
· Washington, D.C. (4-5 hours)
· Nashville, TN (6-6 ½ hours)

A regional airport provides non-stop flight services to many cities on the East coast, including New York, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Orlando, Atlanta, and others.

Required Qualifications
  • hold a doctoral degree
  • be currently certified by NBCOT
  • be eligible for licensure to practice Occupational Therapy in the Commonwealth of Virginia
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical experience in pediatrics >3 years
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Experience working with underserved, and/or diverse populations
  • Evidence of the development of a scholarship record

Education
Occupational Therapy degree from an ACOTE-accredited institution
Doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution
