We’re looking for a mid-level Water Resources Engineer to join our Water Resources Engineering Practice supporting private and municipal projects throughout Oregon and Washington. Working with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, planners, and environmental scientists, you’ll be an integral part of our design team with the opportunity to manage projects and mentor junior staff on projects including; infrastructure improvements, surface water management, sanitary sewer, flood control, fish passage, and stream restoration projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Washington, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- 4+ years of responsible design experience in Water Resources disciplines and experience as a hydrology and hydraulic design engineer with general civil and water resource design experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation Inroads, or other design software as appropriate
- Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic design software including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMMM, and WWHM/HSPF
- Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D, and/or MicroStation/Inroads
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
Desirable qualifications
- Understanding of Oregon and Washington state and local industry rules and regulations.
- Understanding of Oregon and Washington State Department of Transportation design standards and Oregon and Washington State Department of Fish & Wildlife guidelines
- Water system design experience using EPAnet or similar,
- Experience with GIS applications
- Experience with hydraulic design software SRH-2D
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for a wide range of water resource projects
- Perform hydraulic analysis using SWMMM, and HEC-RAS for sites, stream, and culverts.
- Perform hydrologic analysis using either single event or continuous series hydrologic models
- Provide office and site visit support for projects in construction.
- Manage the following work elements: day-to-day internal and external communication (verbal and written), support and advise junior engineers and technical staff to develop PS&E documents, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with subconsultants, keep project on schedule and within budget, and keep exceeding client expectations.
- Willingness to work in fast paced environment across multiple disciplines and project types.
- Flexibility and creativity in project approaches, and openness to learn and develop.
- Assist in the management of larger projects or manage smaller projects, including preparing scopes, budgets, and schedules.
